.DISCUSSION...
(Today through next Sunday)
WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Skies are mostly clear this morning
across northern and central Nevada. Only high clouds can be be
seen streaming southward. Nothing is on radar at the moment. The
weather will continue to be quiet and dry for the next couple
days. The current synoptic depicts a similar set up from previous
days. Upper level high pressure will be building across the
western and southwestern United States with an open upper trough
over south-central Canada. For today, heights will be rising as
high pressure establishes itself over the west. This will bring a
few degrees of warmth to the high temperatures. Winds will be out
of the northwest; expect gusts to 20 mph during the afternoon with
no precipitation expected. Mostly clear skies expected tonight
with occasional breezes.
For the beginning of next week, heights will continue to rise
slowly across the area as models continue to build the upper
ridge. Winds are expected to remain rather light with gusts to 20
mph. Afternoon highs will warm to above normal levels. In
addition, models continue to suggest at the possibility of mid-
level moisture trickling into central Nevada for Tuesday
afternoon. At this time, kept pops low and continued with isolated
dry thunderstorms across portions of eastern and central Nevada.
Each day, several degrees of warming through the upcoming week
will commence as the ridge is forecast to move overhead. Highs
will range from the upper 80s to mid 90s across Nevada today,
warming into the low 90s to upper 90s by Tuesday and Wednesday
afternoons. Some of the warmer locales could see readings topping
one hundred degrees. Possible headline heat products may be
required for portions of northern Nevada as HeatRisk highlights
critical areas. For overnight lows look for readings each night to
keep to a similar range, falling into the 40s and 50s.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence is high on dry
conditions through mid-week with warming conditions. Confidence is
high with regards to temperatures becoming above normal Tuesday
and Wednesday. NBM forecast compares well with current trends but
will continue to add isolated dry thunderstorms for Tuesday and
Wednesday afternoons (and beyond) for portions of central and
eastern Nevada.
